The Agung Rai Museum of Art serves the purpose of preservation of as well as development of Balinese art and culture. The museum got its name from Agung Rai who devoted his whole life in preserving the art and culture of Bali. The permanent exhibition of the museums includes paintings by Balinese, Indonesian and foreign artists that also includes the collections of the ARMA Foundation. The visitors can also witness the collections ranging from traditional to contemporary art. The exhibitions also include classical Kamasan painting on tree bark, masterpieces by Batuan artists of the 1930s and 1940s and the only works to be seen on the island of Bali by 19thcentury Javanese artist Raden Saleh and SyarifBustaman. The noteworthy works by Balinese in this museum include GustiNyomanLempad, Ida Bagus Made, AnakAgungGedeSobrat and I Gusti Made Deblog.
